A very large vintage extending rectangular Chippendale-style dining table with arrowhead corners standing on cabriole legs. The table was manufactured by Hooker of Martinsville, Virginia. It has thumb moulded edges, rope-edged aprons and features extensive carvings and feathered feet. It extends with two drop-in centre leaves and has a baize lined drawer at either end. The table is matched with 8 new bergere dining chairs. The chairs have rattan backs, cabriole front legs and feature carvings.

Our lovely customer Tina commissioned us to produce an elegant statement set for her new dining room. She had seen a similar set on our website but needed a larger table able to seat more than 8. We sourced the table which came to us in first-class condition - we gave it a full service before we painted it. Following discussions with Tina, we obtained 8 new French-style carved mahogany chair frames.

After careful sanding and preparation of the chair frames, we fitted new rattan to the chair backs.

Multi-coat paint finish as follows:

• thorough preparation
• all professionally spray painted.
• two coats of shellac based primer to table and chairs
• two coats of water-based acrylic resin undercoat
• three coats of water-based acrylic satin topcoat in 'Pointing' to chair frames and table frame.
• five coats of water-based acrylic satin topcoat in 'Pointing' to table tops.

We upholstered the chairs with a Laura Ashley Summer Palace fabric in Dove Grey. This was stain guard protected.
