When Claire contacted us with her very specific request for 6 dining chairs, we must admit our jaws dropped a bit, but when we thought about it, we became quite excited about undertaking the work.
We started with 6 Louis style chairs, two of them carvers. We did what was necessary to make sure they were good solid frames, then after stripping the old upholstery we thoroughly prepared the set for professionally spray painting. We gave them a coat of shellac based primer, then mixed the perfect shade of grey in water based acrylic resin undercoat and applied two coats. Next we applied two coats of water based metallic paint in silver. To complete the painting, we finished with two coats of water based satin varnish.
After completely re-webbing the frames, we replaced / replenished the foam seat pads as necessary then added a fire retardant wadding. Then we fitted fire retardant upholstery grade fabric in zebra print. We trimmed the chairs using pewter studding. Finally, the upholstery was scotchguard protected.
Once our couriers had delivered the chairs to Claire, she emailed us to say " Omg they are awesome ! They are better than I expected and hoped for ! So comfortable as well ! Thank you again Joy, we can see and appreciate how much hard work and skill had gone into them."
