A very large modern oak butterfly leaf table with thick square legs, paired with a set of 8 antique balloon back chairs. 

Our customer Stephen contacted us as he was looking for a feature dining set for the high-end holiday rental property he was developing on the South Coast. He needed a rectangular table capable of seating up to 12 people and particularly liked the style of antique balloon back chairs. He wanted a colour scheme in shades of grey.

We had recently purchased a couple of sets of 8 antique balloon back chairs, one of them was perfect for Stephen's requirements. We managed to source a modern oak banqueting table. It has a mechanism where when one leaf is pulled the other moves away in the opposite direction; the butterfly section then unfolds from below to fill the gap.

We gave the table some TLC then after thorough surface preparation, we professionally spray painted the table and chairs.  After two coats of shellac based primer, we applied two coats of water based acrylic resin undercoat. We then applied two coats of water based acrylic satin in either Spell Grey, Charm Grey or Oberon. We followed this with a coat of matt varnish on the chairs and table base with three coats of satin varnish to the table top.

We reupholstered the chairs with Christina Marrone Diamante fabric and mid-grey decorative gimp trim. The fabric was fireproofed and stain protected.

The table extends to 380 cm to comfortably seat 12, we have include a couple of pictures of the extended table.
