An Art Deco 1920s dressing table in mahogany; it has a pair of drawers side by side with two wide drawers below. The arched top bevelled edge mirror sits between reeded posts supported by a geometrically carved upstand.
The chest has had woodworm in the past, they had a particularly good munch at the bottom drawer base, so our Practical Fairy replaced it. He also replaced the decorative wooden insert on the bottom right that was missing. To be 100% sure all the woodwork was given a woodworm treatment, although it was long gone.
After thorough preparation, we professionally spray painted the dressing table. We started with 2 coats of shellac based primer then followed with a coat of water based acrylic resin undercoat. We then applied two coats of water based acrylic satin in 'Brassica', and two coats of water based acrylic satin in Titania for the drawer fronts. We finished with a coat of water based matt varnish.
Our Artistic Fairy hand painted her interpretation of tulips on the drawers and then we sprayed a further coat of matt varnish over them.
The height is to the top of the mirror - which can be removed for transportation. The mirror supports do not remove, the height of these is 131cm. The height of the dressing table top is 81cm
