A large antique Edwardian 5 drawer chest. 

Our lovely customer Sophie asked us to refinish her antique chest from her holiday rental cottage deep in the Yorkshire Dales. She was in the process of having the cottage refurbished and asked us if we could paint the chest to match the new Sanderson curtain fabric in the main bedroom. 

We went to see the room and curtains and brought away the chest of drawers for refinishing.

We applied a multi-coat paint finish

• thorough preparation
• professionally spray painted
• one coat shellac based primer
• two coats water based water based acrylic resin undercoat
• two coats of water based acrylic satin in New White

Our Artistic Fairy then hand painted flowers on three of the drawers to match the curtain fabric pattern (Sanderson Dancing Tulips in Primrose Green). We have included a picture of the fabric for comparison. When she had finished, we gave the chest a coat of water based matt varnish.

We delivered it back to Sophie's cottage, she said it looked stunning.
